40 ms, 4.97mbps download and 3.88mbps upload. Yet it still seems slow.

You think that is bad. Try being on a rig in the middle of the Gulf.

It has been painful. And I think I am going to be out here for the full 28 days. At least we have DirectTV.

What do you do out there? And you live there for a month at a time?

I am a shallow hazards geologist. We stay out here for the riserless section of the well (I have no idea if this makes any sense to you, but its basically the shallow section). Unlike normal rig people that work a 2 week rotation or a 3 week one, we stay out here until we have drilled the shallow section. I am not allowed to stay out longer than 28 days though. The thing is, I will have been out here almost a week by the time they start drilling, and the section looks like it will take longer than 3 weeks if we have any sort of delay (there always is something offshore). I normally am only out here for 2 or 3 weeks.

Ah so you oversee the drilling part of it. Thats pretty cool. i dont really know much about drilling and ive never been to the ocean so all i know about offshore wells is what i see on the internet
